Time Goes By

Time Goes By

My bro an I were talking on the weekend about  games we played throughout our lives that would be ranked in a top 25 games for us in our lifetime, and while I will end up posting about that specific subject later, I did notice that the Civilization series has had profound impact on our bonding as brothers. From Civ2 when I was 12 all the way through to Civ5, which is the current release, we have put a lot of hours into playing this video game together. Time goes by so slowly (but very quickly at the same time) from 5000BC to 2050AD in one game.

The Planning

The Planning

Right now, since I just booked flights, my "playing" is mostly sitting behind my computer doing research on our route through Europe. The reason I say that is because even my wife (who doesn't game) and my brother in law (who, at 28 has the Xbox One as his very first console), are noticing the lack of content. With no prior knowledge of the older Forza editions and not knowing the Gran Turismo franchise exists, and therefore no expectations on what content FM5 should have, they still think it's lacking. The fact that the gameplay is so much better than previous editions is of little console-ation, and only to the experienced, who can drive in full simulation mode.

Transported

Transported

There are a few ways that I really like to be transported from reality to another place that is just plain fun, without a care or worry about something that could have a dramatic effect on my life. One of those ways I love to play is driving. I love driving so much that I really don't want to ever commute via car; living downtown and getting to walk to work every day means that driving remains something I do for fun and not simply because I have to. I have driven a few fun things over the years but on my mind currently is the experience my wife put together for my 30th birthday
